A teacher asked a class of 25 boys whether they had taken a bath or shower. Eighteen boys had a shower, 10 had a bath and 3 had neither.

How many boys had taken both a bath and shower?

25 - 3 = 22. [get rid of the three who had neither]

22 boys had bath or shower or both.

18 + 10 = 28

But there's only 22 boys - so 6 boys [28 - 22 ]have been counted twice meaning they had both.

Hope this helps

Ha ha.....................and did they change their pants and socks. It takes ages to persuade young son into a shower and then I have to hide his old pants and socks to prevent him putting them back on again. Something to do with comfort apparently!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would this not be easier to see using a Venn Diagram?

Yes it would but I don't know how to draw one on here! Not all schools seem to do them either
