This immediately begs an obvious question...

That has provided our first conundrum. In the BFP article it states:

And yet the BCC Q&A states ...

9. How will the tests be marked?
The two tests will be machine‐marked. The tests will be in a multiple‐choice format and the
pupils will complete machine‐readable answer sheets.

I couldn't see any way that the test would be other than multiple choice, with the sheer numbers dictating machine marking, but there is a contradiction here somewhere.

I picked up on that little contradiction about multiple choice too, Sally-Anne - to be honest I can't see how they can do anything other than multiple choice, because the cost of marking thousands of non-MC papers by hand would be phenomenal!

I stand to be corrected, but I don't read that as him saying that the tests won't be multiple choice this year ....

I too can't see how they can be anything else but multiple choice.
