Questions about 2013 Entry

Post by Rainbow Petals »

Hi there,

When the results were given on 12 October after taking the test on 3 September 2012, what did the letter say and were you able to interpret the results? Did this help you to determine whether your child had a chance at gaining a grammar school place and did you therefore apply to the grammar school? :)

Thanks

My friend received a letter stating her daughters score, and her current ranking of all children that took the test. So out of 120 places you would have a pretty clear idea, and see if it is worthwhile to apply to the grammar school.

However, my daughter is still waiting to sit the Late test, and there are several others waiting too. So when their papers are marked, the given ranking could slip several places (though this is not mentioned in the letter).

A bit of advice: when you submit the registration of interest in May/June, do follow up with a phone call a couple of weeks later, to make sure everything is ok with your application. The reason we are waiting for the late test is our application was withdrawn (for reason unknown) and we were not notified. Another parent luckily checked and found she had written her childs DOB as 2012 instead of 2002, and had the application withdrawn, but was able to reinstate it in time for the main exam session.

Hi!

Thank you for the advice because now I know what I can expect from the letter. :D
