hi need help working theses fractions as follows..
a: 1/9+7/9=
b: 2/5+2/3=
c: 5/8+1/2=
d: 5/6+1/9=

subtract
i: 7/8-1/2=
j: 3/4-1/3=
k: 5/8-1/2=
l: 8/11-2/3=
m: 11/15-3/5=

To add or subtract fractions you need to make sure they have a common denominator.

2/5 + 2/3 converted to /15 = (2*3)/(5*3) + (2*5)/(3*5)

= 6/15 + 10/15

= (6+10)/15

= 16/15

= 1 1/15

You can check this by converting to percentages: 2/5 = 40%, 2/3 = 67% (approx), which would be c.107%. 19/15 (1 4/15) is nearer to 125%.
