succeed in maths

hi need help working theses fractions as follows..
a: 1/9+7/9=
b: 2/5+2/3=
c: 5/8+1/2=
d: 5/6+1/9=

subtract
i: 7/8-1/2=
j: 3/4-1/3=
k: 5/8-1/2=
l: 8/11-2/3=
m: 11/15-3/5=

To add or subtract fractions you need to make sure they have a common denominator.

if you google adding and subtracting fractions you will find what you are looking for

one example i picked up for you


2/5+2/3=

(15/5*2) + (15/3*2)

2/5 + 2/3 converted to /15 = (2*3)/(5*3) + (2*5)/(3*5)

= 6/15 + 10/15

= (6+10)/15

= 16/15

= 1 1/15

You can check this by converting to percentages: 2/5 = 40%, 2/3 = 67% (approx), which would be c.107%. 19/15 (1 4/15) is nearer to 125%.

Clues:
a: 1/9+7/9= this one should be straightforward
b: 2/5+2/3= convert this into 15ths (?/15+?/15)
c: 5/8+1/2= convert this into 8ths (5/8+?/8)
d: 5/6+1/9= convert this into 18ths (?/18+?/18)

subtract
i: 7/8-1/2= convert this into 8ths (7/8-?/8)
j: 3/4-1/3= convert this into 12ths (?/12-?/12)
k: 5/8-1/2= convert this into 8ths (5/8-?/8)
l: 8/11-2/3= convert this into 33rds (?/33-?/33)
m: 11/15-3/5= convert this into 15ths (11/15-?/15)
