A very big thank you to all - and encouragement to year 5s!

Post by loveyouradvice »

I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to everyone on here who has given me advice through the whole 11+ process. It has been terrific being able to tap into such depths of experience and wisdom.

And to those of you in year 5 - if it's seeming tough, dont despair!

My DD was definitely NOT in the top few at her state primary (which is alas not very good academically) - and we found huge gaps as we started preparing her for 11+.

The turning point for us was definitely June when SHE decided she wanted it and started to work and later developed her own strategies for coping with exam nerves.

End result - offers from all 7 schools, including 2 scholarships (and yes, have given six of them back swiftly!).

And for us the biggest success:
- Her enormous growth in confidence and being excited by writing really stunning stories and realising she could enjoy maths
- With her getting into her favourite school being a nice side benefit!
