Should I appeal?

Post by Snowdon »

Hi all, I'm new here. My dd has not achieved a place at whg or nonsuch despite passing both. We had whg down as 1st preference and frustratingly she was off by only 2 marks for Ooc place. We have been offered our 4th place school which is good but mixed and not a grammar. To make things worse we had desperately wanted her to go to whg as we have two boys in school there and were hoping to move there to make drop offs and pick ups easier. Can someone please advise me as to whether I should try appealing or not? She achieved level 6 in maths mock sats and 5s in English, she will be doing level 6 in both papers. Other than consistently doing well at school and really wanting a place at grammar there are no other factors I can declare, except perhaps some tears in the queue before the exam! Thank you in advance :(

Welcome! :)

Our usual advice is to 'have a go'!

Two marks off + level 6 papers + two siblings ought to add up to a reasonable case.

Someone with local knowledge might be able to say something about previous success rates for appeals.

However, generally speaking appeals tend to be unpredictable.

Have a look at the Q&As if you haven't already done so:

Good luck!
