The Sutton Journey problem!

Post by kendoddsdadsdogsdead »

As our celebrations start to subside on the news of our DS getting in to SGS we are faced with the prospect of the school journey.
Based in Coulsdon (close to Purley) on public transport the journey is more arduous than we imagined. There are several options, none particularly great!
Is anyone else in a similar predicament? Do you have a similar journey and can offer some advice or possibly would like to explore the possibility of helping each other out. It's a long shot but worth and ask.
Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum, kendodds dads dogs dead.

Congratulations to your DC for a place in SGS.

Looking at Tfl journey planner, and you might have looked at it already, the quickest option seems to be bus 463 to Wallington and then train to Sutton.

But economical option might be Bus 463 upto Wallington Green and then bus 407 to Lind Road SM1) stop in Sutton. School is just little walk from there. Journey time less than 40 minutes, if you plan it looking at bus time table. 463 is only 3-4 service per hour.

Hope this helps.

You can also get the 127 to Carshalton from Purley and then get the X26 (one stop to Sutton) or the 407.

Many Thanks for your replies tiffinboys and Dilbud71. They are helpful suggestions and will be added to the journey options we have already devised.
From door to door, TFL states 1 hr 30 min which is too long so drop offs will be necessary. A few dummy runs will be performed but hopefully we can befriend someone in a similar predicament and team up.
The first couple of terms will probably be the toughest, and then everything should settle down as it becomes normal routine.
The journey is a challenge but not as much as getting a place!
