Grammar school applications
Hi, am new to entrance exam / secondary school application procedure and just wondered if anyone can give me information about how the application system works. My DD will be sitting entrance exams in September, probably Loreto, Urmston GS and possibly one more as a practice. Do we have to decide in advance which would be our preference or do we wait until the results of the exams are released? If it is done in advance and she doesnt pass for her first choice but passes her second choice would she still be offered a place even though we didnt put it as preference? Sorry if this is a silly question but it is the first time we have done this so just need to understand the process. Thanks

Re: Grammar school applications
*Exams are sat in the September.
*Results come out in the October.
*End of October, CAF (Common Application Form) must be submitted to local council.
Place your school preferences on form.
*Early March school allocation day!

Re: Grammar school applications
And if you don't get your first preference then your second choice becomes your first and the school will not know where you put them on the list so no need for tactical messing about. Just put your preferences in the order you really want them.
