handsworth girls - car sharing/school run/shared taxi
Any parents interested in school run sharing or taxi or car sharing?
We are moving to Birmingham so we are only looking at areas along the green bus routes (handsworth woods, Great barr and West Bromwich) but if we can find any like minded parents we are open to looking at other areas too.
Would love to hear from any other parents whose girls are/would be attending handworth girls school.
regards

Hi there echoes
My daughter is in Year 7 at KEVIHS and takes the excellent public bus service 75/74 from the West Bromwich high street along Soho Road. It's quick and the buses come every 5 minutes or so. A good few girls from her year are on that bus - one travels all the way back to Dudley and another changes at the bus station to get to Walsall. There has been no trouble at all, apart from the day the buses got cancelled in the snow and three of them walked back the 3 miles or so - quite an adventure! West Brom isn't really on a Green Bus route to Handsworth.

From what I can gather, there is a green bus from west bromwich. Its route AH8.

Route takes church lane, express way, West bromwich ring way, Bull street..... and then carries on towards dudley zoo.

Oh yes! We'd have had to drive to drop her at a stop, or send her on a public bus. And she can leave the house later on the public bus too, as it goes direct - today she didn't leave until 7.50am and was still in school on time. Those extra minutes in the mornings are not to be undervalued! The green bus gets you to school very early.

Oh ok. Is Handsworth a safe area for such young girls to walk on their own from school to bus stop?Turtlegirl wrote:Oh yes! We'd have had to drive to drop her at a stop, or send her on a public bus. Also perhaps you can shed some light on good/quiet/safe areas in west brom or suggest the areas that we should avoid.

The bus stop for KEVIHS is about 50 yards from the front door of the school - it's very safe and busy with lots of people. I'll PM you some thoughts on West Brom living
