Relocating back to Kent - what are the admissions tests?

Post by creeves »

Hi We are relocating back to Kent after living in France.

My 13 year old passed the Bucks 11+ and would have gone to grammar but we moved away. We want him to go to Tunbridge Wells Grammar for boys or Skinners. As he would go into year 9 he would have to take an admissions test.

Can anyone help me and tell me what the format of this test might be?

thanks in advance.

Have you spoken to the schools in question?

The 11+ test currently covers non-verbal reasoning, verbal reasoning, maths plus a written piece. I'm not sure whether the later entry exams would cover the same subjects.

Agree that best thing is to conact the school - they probably have standard info to send out. Might even be on their web site.
Usually it would be more curriculum based tests - eg. English, Maths, Science & MFL.

A couple of seconds on Google produces this:

http://www.twgsb.org.uk/school.asp?l=3&p=3

(Skinners is less forthcoming and says only "evidence obtained in examination of ability to keep pace with the work of the School will justify consideration for admission. Such pupils will only be admitted when the number of pupils in the relevant year group falls below the PAN.")

It isn't clear what route your application should take if you're not currently UK resident, best contact KCC to clarify that I should think.
