books for Buck 11+ EXAM

Post by ISE -DIY »

I bought some books via 11+exams last month, but the website for CEM exam wasn't updated at the time of purchase.

I bought following booked, I am not sure whether it's useful. Please anyone advice me.

* The 11+ Non-Verbal Reasoning Study Book And Parents' Guide
* AE Tuition Eleven Plus Non Verbal Reasoning Work Book 1
* BUNDLE PACK Peter Robson - Maths For Practice & Revision Books 1 To 5 (5 Books)
* AE Tuition 11 Plus Maths Workbook 1 For Aged 9 - 12, Key Stage 2 & 3
* First Aid book

I am new to 11+ exam, NOW my child is in year 4.

ISE

Hi ISE_DIY

I haven't got AE books yet, so I can't comment on them.
I don't think you will need all of Peter Robson books. Book 1 is very useful, but book 2 and book 3 have some useful sections that are relevant to year 5 and 6. I think book 5 is certainly for the year 7/8s.

First Aid Book is good. I don’t have any experience in CEM exams, but I have a DS and I have followed this forum for a while.
I bought CGP CEM packs for 9-10 years and they seem to give better structure. However, I personally think CEM exams will be much harder than these papers.
Have you got bond books? I am using bond books for English, Maths and VR & NVR. We don’t seem to finish any books, but we are trying. Look for some multiple choice practise books for English. My DS doing CGP English 9-10.
Don’t worry; we are all in the same boat for Bucks. My DS is also in year 4 and planning to hit the acceleration button hard in year 5. Ask him read any thing and every thing. (Easy said than done... My DS is not reading enough!!! Hrrrrrr!!!)

Hope this help.

Hi FB

I think what ISE -DIY meant was information about CEM exam from the Bucks County Council website.

Thank you Gameon for your advice.

I bought bond books; English comprehension, maths, VR and NVR, but on this website they have recommended various authors book. I was puzzle and bought them. It's seems CGP is producing books to aim CEM exam, which can be pre-order from this website.

I wanted to ensure that I got right books to teach my son. I am worried now. My son also doesn't pay much attention on comprehension and it's really hard work for parents.
