change in exam format

Post by altydad »

I have just heard a rumor from a reliable source that Altrincham Boys school are in the early stages of looking at changing their exam format to include a reading comprehension. It wouldn't happen for a few years but as I have a son just starting year 4 it would effected him. Has anyone else heard about this as it would change exam preparation techniques?

Hi- I've not heard that but if it's true it can only be a good thing. Currently the exam is very 'maths heavy' so introducing an additional english element would give a better idea of a child's overall ability?

Yes, heard from our school headteacher. Current Y4 will be the first year to take the new style test - as you say with a comprehension.

I had also heard that English was going to be included in the AGB exam but not sure when. I wasn't sure if it was a rumour or not? Has anyone else heard anything?

I have also heard there will be a change in format. Does anyone know if VR and NVR will still be included? I presume it will change for the boys that are about to start in year 5?
