CEM Mock exams experience

Post by GuidingStar »

Hi,

Has anyone tried any of the CEM style Mock exams+ reviews advertised in this forum, such as in the above stickies?

Would anyone share their experience like types/level of questions and quality of reviews provided etc? Are the questions same as the ones in the e-papers we can buy from here?

Thanks.

Haven't tried the e papers, but the general realism of the exam experience has been helpful. They are timed in sections and very hard to get through each section in the time allowed. DD says doing a paper at home is nothing like a real one, even with the timer. I think she would have panicked if faced with having to cope with this format for the first time in a real exam.

The drawback is we don't know exactly what the skipped or wrong questions entailed. There is a fairly specific category so we know what area needs more study, and also info on how others did on the same questions.

Found the Mocks to be very helpful. They will allow you to go and review the errors on the papers at the centre. A very detailed report emailed very efficiently within a day or two of the exam.

Thanks future and sylverysea

Are parents allowed to see the question papers and scripts? Can you take your child's scripts and question papers to home? Do they suggest any materials to practice in order to improve on if your child done poorly in any sections?

Why? Seems a shame when you have driven all that way and paid.

I guess they don't want them to leak out so they can keep selling them as paid mocks.

What a shame!

How would the feedback make any sense if the parents dont know what questions it is talking about.

It was specific enough to see what areas might need more practice, I.e. they skipped mode mean range questions or got several antonyms wrong.
Maybe they can show you an example report.

You can look over the actual paper and identify the errors and the read the actual question. They did not object to takings photos with your phone.
