They may very well give rankings but I am not sure how much use they will be as we still don't know in which order people will put the schools on their CAF. I imagine that there will still be lots of girls who did the CEM exam whose first choice is not actually going to be CCHS for many different reasons.
There is an information afternoon at CCHS which I think might be quite interesting but I think, in the end, the results are going to be useless. My intention is going to be, as it always has been, to put the schools in actual preference order and then wait to see what happens. For us, we are guaranteed our catchment school so - irrespective of dd's scores - I am going to put the grammars first in order of preference and our local catchment school last.
To be honest, it's the approach I would suggest to anyone. You have nothing to lose by listing the grammars in order of your preference because if your dc doesn't get a place, the LEA will just go through your list until they find a school where your dc matches the criteria.
You are absolutely right to put the true preference on the CAF. The purpose of announcing the results before the submission of CAF is to prevent applicants with not chance of getting a place to apply, hence not wasting one of their choices on the CAF.
