Newport Girls High Catchment Area

Post by Parent2000 »

What advantages do the girls in the Newport Catchment are have?? Will all the girls who score above last years lowest school be automatically admitted to NGH?

Rules for Admittance are as follows;

NEWPORT AREA GIRLS ARE CONSIDERED FIRST
Consideration is given to the standardised test scores and a selection of current work of the girls around the borderline and/or a piece of free writing. Places are allocated to all girls whom the panel assesses as being of the required ability. If 84 places are allocated, the procedure stops here. If there are more Newport area girls considered suitable for a place at Newport Girls' High School than there are places available, the 84 places will be allocated to those girls considered to be most suitable, in the opinion of the selection panel.

The letter given out says that your daughter would benefit from a Grammar school education.. does this mean they are suitable for a place at NGH?

What are your views and what do you think the cut off point will be for Catchment area girls and also for Girls outside of the Catchment area?

What advantages did Girls in Catchment have in the past?
