NEWPORT GIRLS HIGH
Hi There,
Can anybody confirm if they got a standardised score above 315 in the Newport test, would you of received a letter suggesting "we strongly advise you to apply" etc? If you got a score below 315 would you of received the standard letter suggesting your daughter would not be suitable etc?

Re: NEWPORT GIRLS HIGH
We ticked the boxes for Newport Girls High, WGHS and QMHS. The letters from Newport Girls High and WGHS were virtually identical and both contained the phrase:
"Given (your daughter's) standardised score, we consider that she would benefit from a grammar school education and would strongly encourage you to include Newport Girls High School on your local preference form." (Obviously WGHS letter encouraged us to apply to them).
She scored above 315. I don't know what the letter for those who scored under this was. QMHS suggest you include them if your DD achieved a score above, equal to or close to the lowest score last year and as Newport state that the lowest score to be admitted may change, I wouldn't have thought the schools would tell children on the borderline not to apply.

Do you think the letters are either strongly urge to apply, or don't bother applying?
Is there a letter for dc's on the cusp?
