Reading seems to be key - in my opinion.

I think you will find some clues in the other thread zingy in which you say that the bexley test is a test of natural intelligence, and not for average children who have been over tutored to be performing monkeys.

Well said mystery
i think ziggy don't need to tutor her / his kids, they seem to be born genius and not the average monkeys !
Ziggy hope you keep your words !

I tutored my DC. I will tell you if there's a positive outcome, a bit pointless giving advice until I see the results. I will write my tips afterZiggy wrote:My ds will sit test in 2014. I am intending to tutor him myself. What have parents of 2013 sitters learnt from the 2013 test that I should bear in mind when designing my tutor programme?

Just out of interest - which of these 4 tests would your dc say was the most challenging?parent2013 wrote:Same here. I tutored my DC heavily and he seems to have done excellent in all exams - Olave, Kent, Bexley & Sutton (screening). Fingers crossed for the results which will decide if my strategies were the correct approach... Will be happy to share with you then.
My ds will be doing a Bexley style test next year (CEM) so I would hazard a guess that the Bexley test was the more difficult one.
Re: What should be learnt from 2013 Bexley test for 2014 sit
My ds would say the Bexley was the easiest in terms of content. It was purely the timing that was pressurising.
Kent this year is of no use to you as it's all changing for next year but my ds felt the most confident in all aspects. He had practised papers and felt that he could attempt everything on the papers on the day.
St Olaves he enjoyed the most as to him it was a 'proper' exam. He loves maths so showing his working is his forte. He was as happy as he could be coming out. Think that it will come down to one or two silly mistakes though.
Time will tell.
My ds is so laid back he is horizontal though!
