Heckmondwike results detail?

Post by Bigbirdcw »

Does anyone know what format the results come in for Heckmondwike? Is it, as they say, simply your child has/has not achieved the standard? Or is there more?
As the mother of an OOC child it would be beneficial to know how high in the ranking she came if she achieves the standard.

Hi Bigbird
My DD took the test last year, you are right in saying, all you receive is that child has reached the required standard. The letter does not give any indication of rank or how high your child has come in the test, we were also OOC. Good luck to your DD I know how stressful the wait can be.

Same as Skipton - you get a "pass or not" letter. If you're in catchment, you're in - otherwise it's a wait til 1 March. You can get an idea from the numbers that have passed in and out of area, but you're not sure til allocations come out.

Don't know for other areas - they do in Skipton, leading to some lengthy debates on here when a large number of out of area boys passed last year!

Evening Bigbird
-if you are lucky enough to get a pass letter for your daughter, then i know from previous years that the Head at Heckmondwike is generally quite helpful to parents who phone in. He wont be able to give you a definite answer as it is of course the local authority who send out school offers but think he will be prepared to give you a general indication of the strength of the pass which should help. good luck

Sounds like it's different to Skipton if the OOC is done on score - at both Skippy schools the pass mark is set by the in-area children and then any OOC who achieve the pass mark get in based on distance. Usually about half of each school year is from catchment, half OOC - and the distance varies depending on how many have passed.
