11+ test results and right to appeal

Post by Rainbow123 »

Hi
This is my first time on this forum. My son sat the Watford Boys Grammer school exam and got a score of 239 which I'm still unsure if that was sufficient but as I live very near the school my son will probably get in on the basis of catchment.

My son also sat the QE barnet test for which the result came this morning, he scored total standardised score of 209 and the letter mentioned that a score of 210 or higher is needed to the standard required.

My son and I really wanted QE barnet :( . I would really appreciate your advice about if I can appeal for the paper to be remarked or any other grounds.

Kind Regards
Etienne

Welcome!
I would really appreciate your advice about if I can appeal for the paper to be remarked
Some admission authorities do make arrangements - Bucks for example:

In Kent parents have been allowed to view the exam scripts (although there is no legal right), and a free remark has been done at the same time!

I think you would need to contact the admission authority/school and ask them.

or any other grounds.
You would have a right of appeal after 1st March if you have applied for a place and are refused.
Your case would be based on alternative academic evidence:

and reasons for wanting a place:

Thank you Etienne - do you think it is worth going into the school and speaking to the Head as this school set their own entrance papers?

If you don't ask, you won't find out what they're prepared to do. :)

Some schools do seem reluctant - see this thread:
