RLS over or under subscribed?

Post by Tkc3 »

I'm still trying to formulate a decision re: appeal or Review!

Please can anyone point me in the right direction to find out information re:under or over subscription for the RLS in Buckingham.

I have a feeling I read somewhere that there were only a couple of appeals that where given a place?

This may sway my decision in favour of a review!

Thanks

I have no idea of the answer to your question, but does this help?

You will be able to guess by looking at the difference between March 1st & the later dates, which will give you an idea of movement, but it won't tell you numbers, which may be available from elsewhere, I don't know.

Thanks Scary mum
I'm still trying to digest the info you gave, although I can make the assumption that catchment area has dramatically reduced from 11.07 miles March 2011 to only 7.693miles in March 2013 - perhaps due to increased demand!

The RLS admissions policy states they admit 174 pupils per year, and I believe they were oversubscribed last year.

I wonder if there is anywhere I can get information about how few places are left after review?

Cheers

Tkc3 - we won't know anything until March - that's when places are allocated.

Distances changed to straight line that's why they are different in 2013.

We do know of some over subscription successes on the forum and I've never understood why PAN is 174 and not 180.

Slightly smaller classrooms and desks, apparently - at least that's what we were told at an oversubscription appeal a few years ago! :?

I bet none of the rooms have fewer than 30 desks - maybe your children could check?

They don't - we checked at the time!

I have just spoken to school who inform me the catchment area has not changed since last year!

So that's 1 less thing to worry about!

Tkc3, I think you are confusing catchment area (set by BCC, and won't change without consultation) and allocation distance - this varies each year.
