Travel to Sale Grammar from South Warrington

Just wondered if anyone knows of transport links from South Warrington to Sale Grammar? I know there is a number 5 bus to Altrincham and then another bus/tram, but just wondered if anybody knows of any other alternative buses or anybody who maybe in a similar position who may want to look at lift sharing?

It will be quiet a trek for a child to arrive from south warrington to sale grammar; also do check if Sale Grammar takes children from that far. They do give preference to the catchment postcodes.

It's not as far as it sounds, we're just through Lymm although it is still a fair way.
I've spoken to the school, they do give priority to certain postcodes but after that, places are awarded on score. I was told with the score she has, she would have been offered a place in the last few years. Just trying to work out logistical options.
