Query re question in num. reasoning book 1 First past post
Hi,
Please can anyone help Test 1 q. 4e, they have only given one measurement, cannot make out even after looking at answer . is the 2nd measurement missing ie height. The value of x is required... (straight line there)
It is a parallelogram.
----15cm---------
x
-------------------
Tried to draw it, if anyone can help. (drawing doesn't come out as intended) supposed to be slanted.
All other shapes have 2 measurements to go by.
thanks

Hi,
The Area is given above the parallelogram = 90cm2
Base measurement is given = 15cm
Area = base x perpendicular height.
So divide the area by the base to get the height:
90/15 = 6
Therefore x=6

Hi,
Thanks for replying, was giving up hope for an answer and wondering whether to email the publishers as there definately is no 90 cm above our shape D on page 5. Looks like a printing mistake... wonder if anyone else had this.
I knew something was not right as was wondering where they got the 90cm2 from... looked at the answer.
Thanks again.
