Does anybody know if children are placed in ability groups for maths and english in year 7? If so, how are these determined?

Curriculum
All students entering the school in Year 7 study a broad curriculum, setting the foundations needed across a range of subjects. Students are taught in mixed ability forms throughout Years 7 and 8 in the following subjects:
· English Language & Literature (including Drama)
· Mathematics
· Sciences (Biology, Chemistry and Physics)
· Computing
· Art
· Design Technology (Graphic Products, Electronics, Food, Resistant Materials and Textiles)
· French
· German
· Spanish (from Y8)
· Geography
· History
· Music
· Physical Education
· Religious Studies.
All of these subjects are eventually available at GCSE level and some of them become optional after Y8.
In addition students in Y7 will follow a CEAPS course developing Creative, Expressive and Performance skills through cross-curricular learning.
All CHS students follow a programme of Personal, Health, Social and Citizenship Education which also incorporates aspects of learning to learn.
