North London Consortium - is there a 'reasoning' test?

Post by CoolMum5 »

Can anyone clear up confusion on my part please? Do the North London Consortium schools have a reasoning paper and what is on the computerised test?
Do the girls only sit a maths and English paper in Jan?
HELP!!!
Thanks in advance to anyone who knows! :)

I think it depends on the school. There doesn't seem to be a universal reasoning test across the Consortium, but I know that some schools do set one, and others don't. Does that help at all?

Thanks Humbug, yes it does. I know Habs Girls do and SPGS have a computerised 'cognitive' skills test ahead of time - I just wondered about the other schools as it isn't clear on the website and I don't want to give my friend the wrong advice! I've told her to ring the schools she's interested in to find out more up to date information but of course they're all closed until the New Year!

Each school makes it clear on their website. St Albans has a reasoning test. Habs and SPGS are not in the North London Consortium. Which schools is she not clear about? If you apply for St Albans but sit at a school that does not do reasoning you will have to sit the reasoning test when you go for interview so best to sit at St Albans. DG

I think NLCS, Northwood College and St Helen's are also on their radar - and they are part of the North London Consortium schools. As I said, I had already given her the information I knew about SPGS and Habs Girls - I know these are not part of the Consortium which is why my original question relates specifically to the Consortium schools.

Northwood, St Helens, NLCS and City do not have a reasoning paper. They just have the written English and Maths paper. This is why I recommended sitting at St Albans if it was one of your choices. Otherwise you will have to fit in your VR paper for St Albans in the morning before your group interview. DG
