Is there any specific feeder school for heckmondwike

Post by kikigood »

Hi:

I am a new parent to this forum.

Happy New Year!

Just wonder to know, is there any specific feeder school for heckmondwike within its catchment area ?
or any other schools are feeder schools even if there are out of the catchment area.

I have checked its website,it mentions that "we do not have a small cluster of feeder schools".

Therefore, Just check with parents here to see whether those school indeed exist.

Thanks!

Hi

The admissions policy gives some preference to children who live in the catchment area - the order (for children of selective ability) is:
a) looked after children
b) in catchment
c) siblings
d) staff member's children
e) children outside these categories in order of score in the exam

Effect of this is that most of the schools in the catchment will send some children to the GS, I suppose the question then is, do some send more than others?

Hi kikigood,

Welcome to the forum.

Heckmondwike uses a catchment area and there are no official feeder schools.
DOES IT MATTER WHERE WE LIVE?
The governing body does give priority to those children from within the local Heckmondwike/Liversedge catchment area.
A map of the catchment area is available in the prospectus folder or on request from the Admissions Secretary. However, places are available for those who live further afield; in a typical year, approximately three quarters of the places have been offered
to children from outside of the catchment area
You can find the full details of the admissions policy here http://www.heckgrammar.co.uk/index.php? ... admissions" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.

Herman beat me to the post.

There aren't any specific feeder schools (unlike some non selective areas),

Depending on what year your DC is and when you are thinking of moving, the best thing is to visit schools in catchment, talk to teachers and see which you would like to live near etc.
