Before and during selection you are delighted to have found an information exchange and busy yourself gathering and filtering information relevant to your particular struggle. Lurking anonymously or boldly announcing your presence and stating your circumstances in the same way as some people can’t wait to get their clothes off in a communal changing room while others are according to their nature more circumspect slowly revealing themselves bit by bit.

Informed posters or just the humorous ones are quickly identified and you look forward to their posts and you may even feel bold enough to join in, offering your thoughts on what is a difficult time for all.
A selective place is gained and now you enter a higher plane where a glowing wisdom and peace has been granted to you, This quickly translates into a evangelical frame of mind where you want to share your hard-earned insights with everyone wise enough to browse this forum and who are yearning for somebody to show them the way. The forum helped you through your dark days and in the modern vernacular you want to give something back.

This honeymoon period goes on with a watchful eye on your particular school to make sure nobody is dissing it and undermining your gift from the Gods. If you don’t gain a place I can’t imagine you would want to spend much time on the forum……..unless you have a sibling and then you may have to do it again but this time determined not to make the imagined mistakes of the previous campaign.

The addictive nature of forum checking can be cured but it takes time or maybe there is a GCSE type forum to graduate to where the cycle can start again. The thing is without the posters there is no forum so keep posting.
Excellent post by Guest that was lurking in Hertfordshire section, thought it needed it's own thread.
