maths and english levels at year 3,4.
hi all,
I am wondering after listening to some parents' chats about what level in maths should have been achieved by a child in or by the end of year 3 ( if we are thinking of going 11+ route).
I know the national expectations but is it only children who are above average will be (or should be) going to do 11+ in 2 years time???
I am sure its too early to think of 11+ but I have noticed many children have been doing tutions from year 2 or may be earlier than that.
if so, can I ask what type of preparations you started doing when your child was in year 3 or 4, apart from reading daily.
thanks.

Have they taken CATs? IMHO those are a good indicator.

they did nfer tests in which he got average marks.

I believe so. These tests might give an indication. However, actual performance in SATs might be affected by many factors... their teacher would probably be the best placed to advise.capries wrote:is cat's the same as called nfer tests as they are called by this name at our school.
