Please help desperate Mum

Post by cashbar819 »

Please help!!!

My son is 9 and is born 27 June 2004. He is really doing very well in school and has been quite good buddies with a couple of other boys in his class who has obviously inspired him to take the 11+ exams. They are all in Year 5 at the moment. Are they supposed to apply for the grammar school 11+ exam now to qualify for their year 7 September 2015? It does makes sense that way but please advise

Hi cashbar819

Just to double check - if your child is in Year 5 (THIS YEAR - RIGHT NOW) - now is the time to be applying for the exam - but the deadline is Friday 11 July 2014.

first off (IF ANYONE FROM KE GRAMMARS IS LOOKING) there appears to be a changeover from the old to the new website for the King Edward Grammar School Consortium in Birmingham - new website now: http://www.schoolsofkingedwardvi.co.uk/ - but doesn't really link in well to on-line applications to sit exams this September - and indeed when I tried KE five ways - no active link yet.

Information on admissions is here: http://www.schoolsofkingedwardvi.co.uk/ ... s/grammar/ - lots of info there -

But if you click this link: http://www.birminghamgrammarschools.org/ - this website does work and admissions timetable/ on-line application to take test is available there.

Admissions Timetable
Admission packs and Test Registration - Monday 12 May 2014
Forms available from each of the schools and on the website

Disability - 18 June 2014
If your child has a disability and/or requires special resources to sit the test you should contact us for a disability form and return no later than this date

Closing date for receipt of test registration forms - Friday 11th July 2014 at 4pm
All registration forms will be acknowledged in writing within 14 working days of receipt.
If forms are sent within 14 days of the closing date you are strongly advised to take steps to ensure that they arrive before the deadline, for example by recorded delivery. Please ensure that any recorded delivery receipt has the office address post code (B15 2UD) printed on it.

Applications received after this date will not be accepted and children will not be able to take the test.

If you want to apply to QM, WGHS, Adams Grammar or Newport Girls then you have to act even faster. They sit the exam on July 1st and so applications must be due in very soon. This test will be for those in year 5 now!
