Missed by one mark (Kent) Appeal Advice
Appeal coming up and getting nervous! DD failed by one mark on Maths paper (west kent)
Scores were VR 131
NV 127
Maths 117
Had the most foul cold / cough / leading up, peaking on maths day. Support by docs letter. School and Kent advised best she carry on and sit the test although could arrange for another day .. options for this given were all a bit vague.
Predicted 5c's in all end of year.
Failed HT appeal. Been reading not to use illness as excuse but feel it played a part in her result. Is in top set for Maths.
Head teacher supporting appeal .. do we get letter from class teacher as well. Just don't know how far to go with it all and getting confused about what to include and not to on the day!! Really grateful of advice (and looking for a bit of support I suppose!). Thank you

Re: Missed by one mark (Kent) Appeal Advice
Hi
Having just got our appeal result in Medway (successful), I can honestly say evidence, evidence, evidence!
We had DS's teacher along with us too and that really helped to give the panel an idea of how much the school supported it. After all, the head teacher can only say so much, they do not have day to day contact with the child. So I would get a letter from the teacher if they are willing. Ours was only too willing and offered to come along!
Don't forget its not just evidence of ability but work ethic and being able to deal with the extra demands a grammar places on them, so evidence of good progress being made is also good.
Good luck!

The panel might ask.
Hope this helps.
