Appeal- what do you think of these reasons?
I'm trying to help out a friend. School is none selective oversubscribed, school has out forward the usual reasons why they cannot accept further pupils for the Group Stage 1 whioch is today.
Second stage is this week and the reasons of the personal appeal are
1) friend actually works at the school allocated in a behaviour support capacity. Its quite a 'challenging school' and she feels that this could cause issues for her child in a social and personal capacity, as she is closely involved with pupil sanctions and thinks there could be repercussions for her child.
2) appealed for school has a very specific specialism for which her child can show a clear talent and has provided substantial evidence.
I think the first stage is what it is really, but can you think of anything else that she could bring up at second stage, or questions the panel might ask?

Re: Appeal- what do you think of these reasons?
I helped a friend in a similar situation though it was for a year 9 transfer. We looked closely at things like language and science options, extra-curricular stuff and the child's strengths and ambitions and then kind of fitted them together - 'X is a keen basketball player and would love to join a school basketball club', that kind of thing. We avoided saying that the child would be a marvellous asset to the school, though did subtly get the key information about areas of excellence across, but in a way which tied them to what the school could offer. There were actually major problems with the school the child wanted to leave but we managed to avoid mentioning them at all.
Said child is now at the end of the first year there - the school I think capitulated at the sight of the written submission, which was aided and abetted by Etienne and Sally-Anne.

It's not uncommon for staff to seek either the same school, or a different school, for their child. Your friend seems to me to have a valid reason for seeking an alternative.TIDDLYMUM wrote:1) friend actually works at the school allocated in a behaviour support capacity. Worth mentioning, I think.2) appealed for school has a very specific specialism for which her child can show a clear talent and has provided substantial evidence.
Be prepared for this in case it crops up:I think the first stage is what it is really, but can you think of anything else that she could bring up at second stage, or questions the panel might ask?
