September 2014 Takers

Post by starfish1 »

Hello -my child has done some practice papers... but how do I know whether the marks he got are indicative of grammar or which Kent grammar? This whole thing is new for us ...
Thanks!

What papers has he taken so far? Historically about 50-55% raw score in teh real thing to pass, and 75-80% for full marks. Although of course this year who knows!

On the Assessment papers in the books, or the actual papers using the grids and in the required time? If the latter, probably, yes, unless he is likely to panic on the day! Have you tried the GL papers as GL set the test? Over 85% in those, in the time, would suggest a child who could look at Judd or Skinners. (I personally think the Bond is sometimes harder than the GL but not everyone agrees!). You need to have used the answer grids though as that does slow them down.

And which age assessment papers ? There are loads of Bond books. It's much easier to get your questions answered if you are specific - Bond publishes a vast array of books for different ages and different subjects and 10 minutes and longer. He can't be exactly 85% on all of them!

No, He did 10-11 and got 85 maths 83 English 78 vr and 93 non verbal.
We haven't done tutoring and haven't done any more than one of each paper yet...Kent test is bit of a last minute decision...

Dunno. But when you read on here that a child got xx% in such and such papers when preparing for the real thing it is hard to know which papers they are talking about and hard to credit that the child's marks were so consistent.

Were yours the ten minute papers or the longer ones? Which book and paper number? How much time was the child allowed in the tests?
