Numerical reasoning, First past the post

Post by MerlinFromCamelot »

Hi,

Just started to use book 1 of the first past the post series, book 1, numerical reasoning.

I'm very confused....
Paper 1, Q4
Rectangle 9.5cm by 2cm.
Calculate perimeter. Answer 16.4 cm according to the answer book.

Really???? Am I missing something??

Has anyone else used these books and are there any corrected answer sheets available??

Not impressed

Not you, there are a few mistakes in the book I think....I had a hunt through posts in the Maths section some time ago looking for help!
If you look at the explanation it doesn't make sense... mine says (6.2 x 2) + (2 x 2) = 16.4

Answer with dimensions in Q should be 23.

Also for e in Question 4 you need to know the area. Apparently later editions say Area of D = 90

We bought some new First Past the Post books last year, and there were several errors that had missed being edited out, as I think they were in a hurry to publish (we didn't get them till part way through the summer holidays, so there was a limit to how much we could get through). We did receive an email to links, I think, which listed the errors and correct versions. Might be worth phoning up to find out.

If the publishers are already aware of errors in their publications, surely they should list the corrections on their website. :?
