Mistake in Answer Sheet

Post by MumofTwoSD »

Hi,

My DC seems to have wrongly answered a section's answer in another section, but realised well in time and have rubbed off and transferred to the right section. My worry is what if the rubbing was not perfect - this gives a danger of the second section being mostly incorrect (because of double entry!)

If something worse happens due to this, will there be a chance for us to see the answer sheet where we can see his imperfect rubbings and then take matters further as per necessity?

Thanks.

Hope people like Guest55, Patricia, Sally-Anne may have input for this?

Cheers.

Mine had an issue with going outside answer box on NVR due to time constraints, she didn't hit next question answer box but line went out, does this cause an issue with marking, RGS put in a note to admissions and they said it was ok but she was worried and cried :(

Sorry for the delay. With the Tour of Britain passing through, and a "tourist" to deal with on another thread, we've been a bit busy in Bucks today.

The papers are marked by an optical reader. If it detects an issue with unclear answers, it will (should) spit the paper out and it will then be marked by hand. Hopefully it will then be clear which answers were the intended ones and which were the rubbed out ones.

Unfortunately you will not be able to get sight of the answer sheet yourself. It is also not clear whether a remark and breakdown of questions by each section of the test will be available. To be honest though, the remarks I have seen really don't prove very much.

I am just speculating here, but it might be possible to find out in due course if your son's paper was marked by hand ... Let's see what happens with the results.

Is that the same with going out of the box on marking or does it not affect it Sally Anne ?

Dear Sally-Anne,

Although delayed, your reply carried some sort of consolation, have to wait and see the outcome on October 17th.

Thanks a lot. Really appreciate.

There is some info in the FAQ about being able to ask for a manual remark - might be worth checking on that. Of course maybe that there will be good news on Oct 17th anyway.

I would think that the Reader will cope if the mark was also clearly within the box. Again, if in doubt, it should spit the paper out for manual marking.
