Probably one of the least useful purchases that I have ever made. Each card has about 20 words (eg adjectives for describing the sea). You'd be better off buying a descriptasaurus http://www.amazon.co.uk/Descriptosaurus ... iptosaurus

Too complicated for 10 year old. It is like GCSE stuff...avoid it.

Descriptosaurus is fab and perfect for this age group, as well as beyond. I second Ladymuck.

My DS found the cards very useful at first. Although he'd learned all about the importance of including adjectives, adverbs, direct speech, similes, metaphors, etc., he wasn't actually using much of this in his early writing (mid-way through Year 5). The cards helped reinforce what's important to include, and reminded him to include them. He practised every so often with them and by earning more coins each time, he improved. But more than that, the use of these elements became more spontaneous and more second nature. I think they were worth the money.
