I got the results too!
He is likely to be offered a place.
How does it compare to "will possibly be offered a place" ?

Congratulations to you all.

There are only 3 results -
likely : kind of guaranteed subject to CAF

possibly: waiting list (offer based on who pulls out after being offered likely). There is nothing like "most possible"
or "really possible" :)
not likely: sorrrryyy

Wife just called. "Possibly" here too. Does anybody know how many possiblies are given, and if there is any realistic hope at all?

Hi all, long-time lurker, first-time poster.

Son just got a possibly for Olaves and now left feeling unsure about what happens next. Pleased for him as I know how competitive it is but also, understandably I hope, disappointed.

My wife was told at the open day that likely goes to top 200 and that possibly goes to next 200. This was by someone in a suit so does have some credibility. However, I doubt it for a few reasons:

1: I don't see them sending likely to more than the first 120 - 150 as they would not want to get hopes up and, surely, most boys offered a place will be taking it.

2: I don't see them sending possible to hundreds of boys unless it is some sort of silver medal prize to let them know they were there or thereabouts in the running. Given that the result changes how you will all fill in the form I think they have to be more parsimonious that the 200/200 split mentioned above.

Can anyone put my mind at rest at all regarding the numbers, even if it's just to say that the man in the suit was talking nonsense!

Thanks
