What school should I put first?

Post by littleheron »

Hello.

My daughter passed both Wallington and Nonsuch. We live about 5 minutes from Nonsuch but 15 minutes from Wallington. I am tempted to put Nonusch first, but my daughter only received a mark of around 290.

What is the chance that she will get into Nonsuch? Should I be worried that she will not get in? And if this is the case, will I she be able to go to Wallington even if it is second on the list?

Thank you.

As always, put your true preference first which I guess may be Nonsuch. If she doesn't get high enough for Nonsuch but does well enough to get offfered Wallington, then Wallington will flash up on your email on Offers Day. The schools don't know which order you put them in.

Hi Littleheron,
Please don't be swayed by the hypothetical Nonsuch ic cut offs on the othe other thread. As has been stated above please list your true preference ( Nonsuch 1st ) we are all in the dark as to where the cut off will be and can only speculate.
Good luck

Hello littleheron,
We are planning to move to that area if my son gets into wilsons. Thinking ahead for my DD who will be ready in 4 years for 11 plus, what area cover the catchment for both girls selective schools? are they area commutable from wilson boys?

Hi pg,

Catchment for Nonsuch is 5.25km from the school. Wallington has two intersecting catchments - one of 6.7km from the school and another of 6km from a junction in Carshalton. More info and catchment maps are on the school web sites and you can make an appointment to see the map at the schools if you don't trust google.

Bear in mind though, that admissions policies are reviewed every year and can change a lot in 4 years.

If these schools have catchment areas, surely they are not superselectives?
