Hi Acme

I remember it well! Am sure your advice to anyone appealing on distance would be be very useful, just hoping that no one posting here will need to appeal!

Your DD ? Now that is a problem!!!... bit far to Ripon or Clitheroe :?

Hi hermunmunster

A quick question what subject does EGS specialise in?

Also would you have a link on the map of catchment area
As we are OOA?

Many Thanks

The Skipton catchment area is a weird shape - it only goes a very short distance south of Skippy (eg Carleton's in, Cononley's out) but goes right up to the top of Wharfedale in the north. So Oughtershaw and Cray are both in.

I had to pick my daughter up from her mate's yesterday in Buckden (in catchment) and it was about an hour round trip. My mate who teaches are Ermioes said a few years ago kids from up the dale would board at school during the week.

It's on p20 of this:

http://www.sghs.org.uk/wp-content/uploa ... t-2015.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However it's distance from school, not distance from catchment that matters - so you could be in Silsden (about 5 miles out of catchment, but less than 10 miles from school) and you'd be higher priority than someone from Horton-in-Ribblesdale (about a mile out of catchment, but about 15 miles from school).

Hi Andy

thanks for posting this - sorry I missed Uphill's post. indeed the catchment is very odd shape.. quite a lot get in from Addingham, Silsden, Ilkley etc

There is a bit of EGS that is still referred to as the boarders' dining room, though i think the dormitories got converted into art rooms!

Hi Uphill - we'll be keeping our fingers crossed for you - and if March 1st doesn't bring you the news you hope for then there will be a waiting list + over sub appeals so keep going !!!

PS EGS used to have a science specialty but don't think these mean anything anymore.
