My DD's answer was 300,000

784,321
My DD's answer was 300

832,525
My DD's answer was 30,000

She had a whole string of these to do. She thought she was correct but tutor answer sheet showing different answers. I think there is error in answer sheet and wanted to check here! TIA

Her answers are correct :D

Technically we don't use commas any more so 300,000 is written 300 000

I will let her know tonight about comma, thank you! She'll be glad she was right, I wasn't sure, she was getting annoyed when we looked at answer sheet together! Thank you. X

I don't like the wording of the question. Is the tutor's other material like this?

If I read a question asking about "digit 3" I might think it meant the third digit in poor English.

Maybe if it said "what is the value of the digit 3 in each of these numbers" I might find it less ambiguous.

I don't think you will get 11 plus questions this badly worded - or this simple?

if it had said what was the value of 'the' digit 3 I would have answered as your daughter did. Iffy question

That interpretation would not be very challenging as each number is the same magnitude ie the third digit is 'thousands'.

It was the final three questions of one of the pieces of homework, questions 10,11,12. Question 12 answer was missed out and answer for question 11 (784 321) was 30,000 and answer for question 10 (301 927) was 300.

Sounds like your tutor can't write English clearly and can't see straight.
