Henrietta Barnet and Habs Sixth Form Options for RE & Phil
In the Sixth form information booklet for HBS there is no RE and Philosophy has disappeared. It is on the 2013 results but now it has gone. So you do GCSE RE and then you can't do A level. Why did they remove it? Habs has just introduced it this year for the first time as HBS takes it away? Anyone know the history behind either of these decisions? Thanks DG

Hi, as far as I can tell they haven't done RE for a long time.
Note sure what's happening about phycology though.
main problem with HBS is that its a relatively small school, and they want at least 7 or something to do a subject, and if not enough people choose then it doesn't happen.
My DD wanted to do DT for A level, but there weren't enough.

Thank you very much for replying. So I see Music runs every year with just three or four. Is seven the magic number? The 2013 results show Philosophy but it has now disappeared. DG
Re: Henrietta Barnet and Habs Sixth Form Options for RE & Ph
it makes me sad to see subjects like R.E and Philosophy are not so well regarded nowadays, since Mr Gove(at a whim) decided what constitutes as facilitating subjects, interesting subjects have effectively been to put to the sword!
and as for psychology ,its has always been a Micky Mouse A level as it is a degree level imo
at Top Unis one can still do serious degrees like Maths , The Natural Sciences , Computing combined with Philosophy
I specialise in Ethics , and I have to be honest R.E is actually irrelevant to a serious study of such a subject(because the baggage Religions are loaded down with(it is a heavy weight) and the inevitable bias ) just my opinion

Philosophy has been removed from HBS but will appear on the Habs results for the first time this year! If seven were required for DT why did Music run with just four last year? DG

Maybe 7 started but dropped out? After AS, or do the school have a policy of choosing who actually sits exams? ( Don't know the school so nothing implied!)
