Typing for maths.

How do I type x squared without writing 'squared'?
Especially useful as it took 3 attempts to get the letters in the correct order.
Thank you.

think the usual notation on a keyboard is x^2

but I might be imagining it.... it is after all 23.23 - have just finished a shift at work complete with a nearly full moon and am half way down a glass of wine.....

To get the ² symbol:

I did it the complicated way. I typed ac or even (ac)
Then I went into word, then insert, found the symbol for squared put it into the word document and then copied and pasted. I'm sure there is an easier way but I'm not an expert.....at anything. So this is what you end up with and I've been on the Baileys.
ac² (ac)²
I needed to find it as I have been making up maths papers for my daughter.

It's easy in WORD you highlight the power and go to format, then font and choose superscript. I would suggest doing this after you have typed the next letter otherwise you have to 'undo' the supercript when you want to type something else.
