What was pass mark for maths last year
I've heard it was extremely hard and I wondered what % was needed for a pass.

There isn't a maths pass mark.
Only an overall medway test pass mark. Which is made up of doubling the maths & creative writing scores & then adding the vr score.
They do age weighting and then rank candidates. . They calculate how many children form 23% of the current yr 6 cohort This number of children pass & the lowest score is the pass mark - hence it alters slightly each year.
they reserve 2% of places to be allocated at review

the actual % doesn't matter - it is purely how well the child performs relative to the others.

Can the child do really well in one subject say get nearly all correct then get a lower mark in a diff subject but still pass. Or do they need to get a good mark on all papers. Hope that makes sense.

It depends really - but basically there is a bit more leeway with a combined passmark than if you had to make ac ertain level in each subject. However creative writing especially is a n unpredictable beast.......
With maths the passmark overall will be lower if all found it harder as maths scores will be lower.
