Berks and Bucks test - is it the same?
Hello all,
Checking in for my second round of 11+ after a couple of years breather!
Now that everything has changed to CEM, I just wondered what the situation was with Berks and Bucks. Is it the same test?
On the Reading boys website, it says "There will be other schools that will be using the same tests as Reading School. If your son takes our test after this date and is found to have taken the same test, then we will use the raw scores from the first test he took, even if it was at another school."
Thank you for any clarification.

No. Bucks 'transfer test' is different.

Thanks for clearing that up, Guest55. Even second time round, I'm finding everything a bit confusing....

Both use CEM as the test provider, but the Bucks test is written especially for Bucks candidates.
The test used by many smaller areas is the same one, hence the cross-checking of scores from area to area.

Thanks Sally-Anne. So the Bucks score wouldn't affect sitting the Berks test, correct?
Do both tests cover more or less the same things, given they are both CEM?

Which schools are you looking at OP?
The Bucks CEM could be anything and may or may not be similar - no-one knows.

Reading boys sits the same test as Latymer and Redbridge on CEM Super Saturday 12th September. Latymer and Redbridge share results. DG

OP, 'other schools' in your original post probably refer to Slough schools within Berks. Last year the same test(same day) was used by Reading, Kendrick and Slough consortium. DCs were free to sit tests in Reading/Kendrick or Slough schools and just tick the 'Share score with other school' box on the registration form.

Guest55 - looking at RBS and SWBGS. We are totally OOC for Borlase, although well within the 11 miles it went to last year (but I imagine that was an anomaly) and would actually take less time to get to than RBS, which we are in catchment for. Just mulling over if it's worth DS sitting Bucks test.

RBS? Which school is that?
If RGS - it is very different to SWBGS!
