Hi I have come over from the 11+Appeals as my daughter appeal was successful, and i made a comment about getting her 1st choice well we only put down one grammer school down, which was Wycombe High School, , I noticed in the Guide for Parents the entry allocation for 2007 all the places where all offered? any advice much appreciated cheers

According to the link in the 2008 Preferences Thread...

There are 180 Places and 131 people put this down as a first choice (and passed the 121 criteria); so if it is your first choice you have a good chance.

Admissions staff are really helpful; I would recommend giving them a call or dropping them an email

Hi Last Minute

The original allocation profiles as of 1st March (Allocations Day) were:

2007 - All catchment applicants offered, out area siblings and out area girls to a distance of 14.36 miles

2006 - As above, but out area girls to a distance of 7.712 miles

With the exception of Beaconsfield High, all the girls grammars are having to cast their net further and further afield to fill places at present, and many still have vacancies despite that.

I very much doubt you will have a problem if you are in catchment for WHS.

Is it likely that girls from Flackwell Heath will get into Becky High this year?

Beccy High is one of the most over-subscribed schools in Bucks.

The allocations were:

2007 - All in area siblings and some in area girls to a distance of 5.918 miles

2006 - All in area siblings and in area girls to a distance of 5.082 miles

It comes down to distance. Put your postcode and the BHS postcode in to this route planner and it will tell you what you can expect:

Obviously numbers change from year to year, but as the size of the cohort is low at present I would expect 5 - 6 miles to remain fairly constant.

Just to add to what Sally-Anne has said - when using the Transport Direct site to work out a distance, be sure to go into the advanced options and choose the SHORTEST distance. The difference between what it deems to be the quickest and the shortest route from our house to our nearest grammar school is 3 miles!

Yes, the distances can vary enormously, so do make sure that you choose "shortest route".

What does anyone think the chances of getting into Borlase,from Flackwell Heath ,are this year?

Admission number is 120, 1st preferences of 128 passed.

2007 = catchment siblings + in catchment only up to 3.999 miles

2006 = catchment siblings + in catchment only up to 5,447 miles

I am beginning to think that Flackwell Heath is in the wrong place.

How far are you from either school according to Transport Direct?
