Maths Syllabus

Post by mh1 »

Hi Everyone.

I have a child due to start Year 4 (KS 2) and another due to start Year 1 (KS1).

Now usually once or twice a week we spend time (10 mins) covering various random maths topics....

I want to synchronise the topics I cover with them with the school syllabus and so will make contact with their teachers start of term about this.

On a more general note though is there such a thing as a national Maths syllabus for each year group starting from year 1?? so that one can structure parent-child study accordingly and also have idea of what exactly in terms of breadth and depth to teach the child based on age/school year.

Thank you for your help.

Would be grateful if you could point me in the right directions.... any suggested wesbites etc.

The new national curriculum does exactly that:

The national curriculum is on the gov site if that is any help (link below). Not sure how much help that is as I found it very wishy-washy advice but it is what schools should be teaching to.
