Both are good schools.

Firstly it depends upon which exam your child passes. If your child qualifies for the pupil premium then KE Aston may be easier to get a qualifying mark.

From where we live in Walsall parents only choose KE Aston if they fail to get a place at QM boys.I have known and know many parents who have taken their children from schools like KEHS, KES and the other Grammar schools and chosen the sixth form at QM boys.A number of children in my own family and in my extended family have been educated at the boys school from year 7 or from the sixth form. The following table as far as GCSE's are concerned might provide some assistance.

Hi HandsworthDad, just curious if you have looked into Handsworth Boys' Grammar also? We are considering this school for our DS largely for distance/travel reasons and we are interested in other parents' views on it.

TBH all 3 schools are excellent - I've only heard positive things about them from dps. HBS surprised me to be fair as it used to have, shall we say, a colourful and chequered past- I think they've had a change in head not too long ago and all aspects of the school have sky rocketed. I think logistics are crucial to a dc so if HBS is more or less on your doorstep then I would recommend placing it very high up in your list of schools.

A link to a previous thread to which you have both contributed B and PM.

Hi Handsworth dad,
DS1 has just completed year 13 at QMGS - it is a very good and caring school which put the boys well-being and aspirations at the forefront. DS2 is going into year 10 at KE Aston - it is good too but does not seem to be on the same par as QMGS. Other parents may disagree but I would definitely recommend QM over KE Aston.
