Answering Multiple Choice Questions - Tips Appreciated

Hi All

Any techniques please?Best way to tackle multiple choice questions? DS had issues in mock exam matching questions with answers shaded wrong section as he thought best to answer easy ones first and go back later to the harder ones. I'm just wondering best method to avoid this kind of thing. As making one mistake potentially affects the whole paper for multiple choice questions. Any advice is appreciated

Work methodically, quickly and as accurately as possible. Start at the beginning of the section - if a question is taking too long, guess an answer and mark it in (put a mark by the question number, just in case they have time to go back at the end of the section, so they can easily see it). Do NOT leave anything blank - a) you might guess right and b) it stops the child getting out of sync.

DS is complaining that he was taught another method ......answer easy ones first then go back to guess at the end but as you rightly put it that is why he ended up making that mistake. How to now convince him...thanks!

Noo - not a great idea I am afraid.
Why would you miss out a multi-choice question? If you don't place an answer you have no chance of getting a mark.

I have also heard of tutors telling their pupils not to actually read the comprehension but to go straight to the questions
Best to ensure that children are genuinely advanced in Maths/literacy/NVR than try to gain marks with badly thought-up schemes!!
