Bus/Train route to Walsall Grammar School

Post by mh1 »

1) Congratulations to all children who took part in the learning process that is 11+.

Whatever the outcome hopefully children would have benefitted from this process.

2) Do any of the forum members have children who attend/travel to the Walsall Grammar school (Boys) from Birmingham?

Would very much appreciate an insight on the travel arrangments to the school? details of Bus/Train.

Thank you

From Harborne would need bus to New Street (22 etc), train to Wolves and 1 bus to WGHS. Rough estimate of time - 75 minutes.

Green Bus doesn't cover WGHS.

Green Bus does cover QMGS with service from Bham including Edgbaston, Harborne, Bearwood.

Thanks happy dad. Your advice could not have been more helpful.

Its a pain, green bus would have been ideal for us for QMGS (one stops at the top of our road, but no idea where it goes), except I am dead against it now having looked at its performance and stats compared to WGHS.

Its going to get tight deciding logistics, once I know where we stand with Birmingham GS's. Only just dug out the mail to start reading up on WGHS

Perhaps a salutary note, especially if KE turns out to be a shocker and people who have full choice in Wolves / Walsall, have limited / no options in Birmingham.

thanks once again

KEFW is a very short bus ride from Harborne (22) and the Green Bus does serve too.

An alternative route to Wolves would be 126 from Bearwood direct to Wolves then no 1. Not sure how long that would take however.

If DD scored 350+ in Walsall exam, I would be very surprised if a King Ed place isn't in the offing,

In respect of WGHS Abbey Coaches Midlands Ltd provide dedicated school bus services. The information was available at the school open days as to the routes, times and costs.

It was 360+ but she crumpled under time pressure on the day for KE, so we are borderline scrape possible fail for KE.

We will see. Hard to turn down wghs when it compares easily to CHG and Altrincham GS girls, if KE or plan B does not come off
