Tiffin girls chances If we live out of catchment

We used to live in Wimbledon just 3 miles from the tiffin school from 2010 to 2014. our DD studied in local primary school from yr1 to yr 4. We had to move to cambridge due to my wife GP training. As a family we enjoy living in Wimbledon .
My wife has to find a job as GP in less than year time once she finish the training. If we move after March nearer to Wimbledon is there any chance getting place. Schools in year admission policy not clear.
Now a days lot of software engineers move their family abroad or to other counties very often due to their nature of the job.
So it's possible to get places one or two in every year.
I am not sure to give a test tomorrow or not?
Our DD won't be travelling from Cambridge to Tiffin
As some people think here.
We will be moving near by if she get place as we used to live in Wimbledon.

Advice note 5.5.2 in the Tiffin Girls admissions arrangement says that the address you live at when you apply and when the deadline for applications is reached is the one that will be used in applying the admissions criteria. The deadline for applications is officially October 31st 2015 (although of course SIFs and exam forms went in long ago).

5.5.2: The permanent place of residence must be the address where the girl is living at the time of application and on the closing date for applications.

Therefore, even if you moved at a later date, your DD would not be considered as having lived in the priority area at the crucial time and so the chances of being offered a place, regardless of test score, would be virtually zero.

You could ask the school how waiting lists would work if you moved after March and your new address in catchment was accepted at that point? If your DD had achieved a good score, she might be added to the waiting list as in in-catchment applicant at that stage. However there's no guarantee they would accept that (hence the advice to ask the school) and there's no guarantee of getting in from the waiting list anyway which would leave DD as a late applicant with no local school or certainly not the one you hoped for.

Note it is permanent address, if you are away short term and you kept your permanent house then might be able to use the Wimbledon address (there are detailed rules on this, and probably best to request them)

Clearly you don't actually have to be at the address on 31st October (especially as it falls on a school holiday, so might be away), but you need to be able to show that you haven't left full-time (which is only possible if you still own or rent the Wimbledon house).

If you intend to move back before the new school year, then sit the test, and apply for change of address. You will be eligible to be added to the list after 1st March and if your score is above the qualifying will go in at top of list.

From the phrase "nearer to" I assumed that curiousappa's family did not still have a house in Wimbledon and were instead considering a move back to the area.
If that is the case, they would not have an in-catchment address to use for the October 31st deadline regardless of the finer details of defining which house would count as temporary and which as permanent.

Yes this would be possible however it does involve risk. If curiousappa's daughter scores highly enough to be added to the list but not the top of the list, she may not receive an offer at Tiffins at all. There are always people who make the waiting list but never actually receive an offer.
That then leaves the family as late applicants in Wimbledon at a time when all other school places will have been allocated because anyone moving to new area after the deadline are treated as late applicants which means their preferences aren't considered until all other on-time applicants are processed.
Therefore even moving very close to a good back up school in Wimbledon early in winter or spring would not guarantee a place at a preferred school should the Tiffin waiting list not work out.

sorry I phrased it wrongly, instead of qualifying score, I meant a score that would have been in the first 150 (180 from next year) offers.
You wouldn't get an offer on 1st March as out of area, but if you had moved by then and registered the change of address, you could be added to the waiting list, and a high score would put you above others on the waiting list.
It is frustrating for others on waiting list when this happens, but presumably you would decline an offer elsewhere so free up a place elsewhere which is the way waiting lists work.
