Year 5/6 Ranking

Post by scarymary »

I saw from a previous post from last year on the Bucks forum that headteachers in that county rank children as to suitablility for grammar school on some sort of list.
Does anyone know if this is the case in Dorset? Can we ask the headteacher for this information? And if a list exists, is it relevant?
(I think the subject on the Bucks forum was 'year 5/6 ranking' and last replied to on May 2007).

i am sure that somebody will correct me if I am wrong-but I think Bucks is the only LA that do this,as they are a fully selective county.I know that Gloucestershire don't.

Hi, at my dd's middle school the head teacher will recommend and support grammar applications from children who get level 5's in all their KS2 SATs

That's interesting. I'll check with my daughter's teacher next week to see if that happens at her school too.
