Travelling to Beths Grammar from Orpington

Post by Lemons »

Hi we went to Beths open evening last night and were really impressed by the school. We live in Orpington and I wondered if many people travel from Orpington to Beths and which route they use? We think it might be a bit too far to travel but would welcome anyone's advice. Many thanks.

JD coaches run a service to Townley from Petts Wood and Orp which isn't far from Beth's. They may be worth approaching to see what can be done.

The 229 goes from Sidcup Station to Beths (a few mins walk). I don’t know where in Orpington you are but the 51 goes fm Orpington to Sidcup Station. Any good?

Thanks for that. We are within walking distance of Orpington Station so close to bus routes. Transport for London has suggested some other routes too. Think I will have to go on some practice bus rides next week!

Just in case anyone is interested we have done some practice journeys to Beths. I went after school drop off about 9 and it took 40 minutes from Orpington High Street to Beths on 51 & 229. My husband did the journey leaving our house at 7 and got to Beths 810 on 51 & 229. I tried coming back on the train and that was about 40 minutes Bexley to Orpington station changing at Hither Green. Still haven't definitely decided yet. We also liked Chiselhurst & Sidcup but we are 5 miles so wouldn't have got in last year and we should get into Darrick Wood secondary where we live. Very hard to choose.

Lemons - Has your DC written the Kent test? If yes, then have you considered Wilmington? The North Kent bus goes from Orpington to Wilmington via some pick up points.

My son did do Kent test but just failed, he got 339 score but 103 in maths and needed 106 so Wilmington isn't an option thanks.
